CMCC meets eligibility criteria for CCE

News

CMCC has received notification from the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) in the United States that the institution has met the eligibility criteria for pursuing accreditation by that organization.

From CMCC:

“This is a major step in expanding the ability of our graduates to pursue opportunities to practice in the US.  As many of you are aware, many CMCC graduates have been able to become licensed in parts of the US in the past, but a number of states currently deny licensure of graduates from non-US accredited programs.  Today’s students are increasingly expressing their desire to spend a portion of their professional career in other countries.  We hope that eventual US accreditation will help broaden the international scope of our program.

Our Board of Governors fully supports this initiative and foresees that not only does it have the potential to open new avenues of practice for CMCC graduates but it may also increase opportunities for US chiropractors to receive credits for CMCC Continuing Education courses.

What is particularly notable is that CMCC is, to our knowledge, the first international chiropractic program to be considered as eligible for accreditation by the CCE-US.  If successful, CMCC’s Doctor of Chiropractic program could also become the first program in the world accredited by two CCE organizations.  CMCC is currently engaged in a process for reaffirmation of our existing CCE-Canada accreditation and our degree-granting consent from the Ontario Ministry.

Based on our institutional maturity and existing recognition by Canadian agencies, the CCE-US has set an aggressive timetable for our application and review, beginning with a comprehensive self-study report due in April 2021, followed by a site visit in the fall of 2021.  A decision will be made in January 2022.  Until a decision is made, we will include the following statement in any public announcement regarding accreditation:

The Doctor of Chiropractic degree program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) is currently engaged in the process of seeking programmatic accreditation by the Council on Chiropractic Education, 8049 North 85th Way, Scottsdale, AZ, 85258-4321, Phone: (480) 443 -8877, Website: www.cce-usa.org. During this application process, the program does not hold accredited status with the agency, nor does the agency ensure eventual accreditation.”
