From time to time, Canadian Chiropractor likes to highlight some of the "lighter side" of a chiropractor's life, unusual, fun and interesting things that chiropractors do outside of their practice.
Here's one sent to me by e-mail by Dr. Vito Tassone, who runs a chiropractic practice in Sault Ste. Marie:
Dr. Tassone is a self described singer-songwriter (with heavy emphasis on the song writing part) whose musical influences are in rock and pop. He has been song writing since 1988 while only performing a few songs at special occasions.
Health-care professional by day, a closet rocker-wanna-be by night, he performs as a keyboard player in a local classic rock band with aspirations of being an established songwriter.
Dr. Tassone has never put anything 'out there' for an official test run, until now, and he is looking for some major support to get noticed. He has entered an original song called LIVE YOUR LIFE into a CBC Music and Hockey Night in Canada Song Quest and voting is now open.
The winner will record a studio version of their song, have their track featured in a primetime montage on Hockey Night in Canada and they’ll also get a trip to Lloydminster, Alta., where they’ll perform live at the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada concert.
First period voting to narrow the entries to a top 50 began Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. ET and goes until Dec. 11 at 11:59 ET.
Supporters can go to Dr. Vito's artist's page here and click on the LISTEN and VOTE tab. People can vote once per day per region but can listen to the song repeatedly. Also, support is tracked when people log in on CBCMusic.ca and click the LIKE tab or add the song to a playlist.
Top 10 Public voting goes from Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. ET to Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Results are revealed on CBC TV’s HNIC on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Public voting for the winning song goes from Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. ET to Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Results are revealed on CBC TV’s Winter Classic on Wednesday, January 1, 2014.
LIVE YOUR LIFE is a rock anthem with a strong inspirational message, dedicated to all people so busy trying to make a living that they forget to live their lives. Its main message in the lyrics; ‘while you’re trying to make a living, just take time to stop and play, look around and listen, take note of the things you’re missing, and live your life like you are only here for one more day.’
Easier said than done.
